Quad strollers

Finding a stroller for one child is easy. Twin strollers can be found at any Toys R Us or Baby World store. You might have to search a little harder to find a stroller to fit three children - but what if you're raising a little army and need a quad stroller or better? When a friend with two year old twins was told recently that she was having twins again, that was the dilemma she faced.

What we found - aside from the commercial variety of multiple strollers meant for day cares, and priced to match - were two very different well-designed and attractive quad strollers that are widely available and affordable. Both can be ordered online, and can often be found at auction on eBay.

The Sutton Square Quad Stroller from J Mason is a traditionally designed stroller with four seats arranged in front-facing pairs. It has front swivel wheels to make steering easy, and features heavy-duty front and rear wheel suspension - an absolute must when you're carting four-in-one kids. The design makes it just as easy to maneuver as a twin stroller, allowing it to fit through doors and down shopping aisles with ease. The entire carriage folds flat for storage, making it easy to toss into the trunk for carrying along to the mall or supermarket. It's a handsome carriage, with a blue-check pattern and two huge baskets for carrying diaper bags and accessories along. One of our favorite features for this classically designed quad strollers? Four independent canopies so that each baby gets just the degree of sun or shade that suits them best.

Totally different from anything we'd seen is the Runabout Quad Jogging Stroller. Billed as a sport utility stroller, the Runabout quad stroller has a sleek design that makes one think of racing stripes and helmets. The four seats (and it's expandable for up to six seats for day cares or REALLY big families) snap into the frame one behind the other, and are arranged stadium seating style with each seat a few inches higher than the one before it.

The stadium seating in the Runabout quad stroller makes it just as easy for the baby in back to see the road ahead as it is for the first baby in line. Each seat reclines to an infinite number of positions between 10 and 35 degrees, and the head and foot rests make for a comfortable ride no matter which position the baby is in. The quad stroller features pneumatic, no puncture bicycle style tires, a huge rear storage basket, and sleek molded seat construction with a built-in 5 point harness system for each seat. Optional accessories include a sun canopy, weather shield and a car carrier that allows you to just snap the quad stroller into place on the back of your car and go.

Carting multiple kids around is an exercise in logistics that could defeat anyone, but these two very different, unique quad stroller designs make it a breeze.
