If you choose a neutral color for the walls then area rugs are a great way of adding a touch of brightness and contrasting color to your nursery decor. Even if you already have wall-to-wall carpet, an area rug will not only enhance your nursery décor but also provide protection for the carpet which will invariably see lots of spills and little accidents in the first few years.

Wallpaper is a great way to add a fancy touch to the décor of your nursery. If you are considering painting your nursery walls ensure that you do so well in advance to allow for the smell of paint to completely leave the room. The colors you choose to paint the walls are a personal preference but it will set the tone for the entire nursery, so choose well. Traditional colors are still a popular choice with pastel and neutral shades being the most common. For a more dynamic look without overpowering the room you might like to consider painting the main walls in a pastel shade with a more dramatic color used along the skirting boards and window frames. Using two or more contrasting colors is also a great way of creating a unique décor.
