You may already have some ideas on possible choices, such as a
favorite theme or color scheme for your nursery. Having something in
mind is a great way to start. Use these ideas to plan your nursery
and you will find the process quite easy.
Firstly, choose a color scheme for your nursery. If you know what
your baby’s sex will be then you might already have an idea of the
color. The obvious traditional colors of blue for boys and pink for
girls are still favorites, but this is no longer standard. Some
parents are quite happy to have a blue room for a girl for instance.
Although pastels are often the accepted choice, with colors ranging
from lemon through to mauve, bolder colors are becoming more popular
and look particularly attractive with trims around skirting boards
and the like.
The next step is to select the furniture that will be placed in the
nursery. Nursery furniture will probably be one of the biggest
expenses in your nursery with the most important items being the
baby crib and crib mattress. Other items which are all optional
include a baby changing table, a storage cupboard for clothes, a
diaper stacker and other items such as a book case, a timber or
plastic storage box to store toys and a rocker or lounging seat for
when nursing your baby.
Some of the items to think about purchasing for your nursery are:
• Baby crib
• Crib bedding
• Baby bumpers
• Stroller
• Furniture
• Diaper stacker
• Mobile
• Wall hanging
Remember that you will have nine months to plan so take your time
and choose wisely. Your nursery should ultimately be a room that
both you and your baby will enjoy.
