The difference between regular strollers and jogging strollers is
essentially the number of wheels. Jogging strollers have three very
large wheels. The larger the wheels, the more comfortable the ride
will be over rougher terrains. For jogging, 20 inch wheels (or
larger) are recommended whilst for gentle walks around the
neighborhood or park you can go as low as 12 inches.
Jogging strollers with aluminum frames are lighter to push and
easier to carry. Many jogging strollers come with carry bags to
allow you to fold the stroller and easily pop it over your shoulder
if required.
Double and triple baby jogging strollers are becoming more widely
available and are so convenient if you have twins or triplets or
even if you have two or three toddlers of different ages.
Look for a stroller with a 5 point safety harness as this provides
the most protection for your baby. It is recommended that you not
use a jogging stroller for any babies under 6 months old as their
neck muscles are not developed enough to handle rough terrain.
Jogging strollers are also suitable for shopping malls and the like,
but these generally have smaller wheels to make maneuvering easier.
The jogging stroller with larger wheels is a little harder to
maneuver in confined spaces.
