They
are often made with a cotton/polyester batting, however there are
also organic batting and flannel crib bumpers available. It is
generally preferable to have a crib bumper that is thin and firm
rather than soft.
Be
sure the crib bumper fits correctly around the entire crib and be
sure to tie all the tiebacks on the crib bumper to ensure it is
firmly attached to the crib. Have at least six ties, one in each
corner and at the middle of the long sides of the crib. The more
ties the crib bumper has the better stability. Tie off any excess
length so that baby doesn’t chew on the straps or get tangled up in
them.
As a
rule, crib bumpers should be removed once the baby starts to stand
to prevent him or her from using the bumpers to climb out of the
crib. |
